Organizing idea: objects have properties we can see, feel and sort by — like colour, size, shape and what they are made of. We can also change some objects by what we do to them.

Organizing idea: objects and animals move in different ways. We can watch and describe which way something goes, the path it takes, and whether it is fast or slow.

Organizing idea: the places around us — a park, a pond, the schoolyard — are full of living and non-living things. Places change, and we can watch and describe those changes.

Organizing idea: plants and animals are living things, and every living thing needs certain things to stay alive — like water, food, air and a safe place. People help take care of these needs too.

Organizing idea: instructions are steps we follow in order. When we follow the steps carefully, we get the result the steps were made for.
