Unit 1: Number

Organizing idea: quantity is measured with numbers. Counting and understanding "how many" up to 100, adding and taking away up to 20, and seeing one-half as a fair share of one whole.

Unit 2: Geometry

Organizing idea: shapes are all around us. Naming flat shapes and solid shapes, and noticing what makes each one special.

Organizing idea: things have a size we can compare. Comparing how long or how tall two things are by lining them up.
